Overview

The purpose of the Freedom Prizes is to reward and encourage the deployment of technologies, which will reduce our dependence on foreign oil. By identifying and recognizing innovative solutions, the Freedom Prize Foundation will play an important role in moving our nation to embrace alternatives to oil for the sake of our national and economic security.

The Freedom Prizes were authorized by the 2005 Energy Policy Act, approved by a bi-partisan Congress and signed by President Bush in order to catalyze the best in American ingenuity to discover the most effective approaches to sustainable and long-term reduction on oil dependence. Our national security, economic well-being, and health depend on tapping into American ingenuity and entrepreneurship.
