Solutions for Deployment Today

A wide range of solutions—including commercially available technologies and policies—are already available today to address our nation’s multi-billion dollar oil addiction. The Freedom Prizes are designed to prove that these solutions, if widely adopted, can make a significant impact on our oil dependence.

Just a few of the existing technologies and strategies include:

• Alternative and blended fuels
• Vehicles such as hybrids and plug-in electric cars
• Biomass and heating oil alternatives
• Fuel economy strategies and technologies
• Alternatives to plastics and other petroleum-based materials
• Policies and incentives, which promote the reduction of oil usage in a community, company, or locality.
